The AWOL America team each year unite our community to recognize and value the individuals who selflessly contribute to their communities.
Objectives and purpose of this organization: At Awol America, we are all brothers and sisters from different backgrounds and professions who came together to give back to community; At Awol America, we also complement the effort of the government of the day in nation building. That is why we do not support any political party but the nation as a whole; At Awol America, provides education scholarships and sponsors humanitarian activities; At Awol America, we organize one of the largest and most prestigious annual award ceremonies in the United States of America, recognizing Sierra Leonean and non-citizens for their extraordinary achievement given back to society.

The 8th annual achievement awards ceremony of AWOL America took place last weekend on September second 2023 at the Arundel casino ballroom. It was a joyous occasion where we honored and celebrated our fellow citizens for their remarkable accomplishments in making a positive impact on their communities, both at home and abroad. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our members, supporters, and donors for their kind and generous contributions, which have been instrumental in fulfilling our mission.

Chairman's Award: Jansie Rescure Mission
Mrs. Janet Thomas is a mother of five, wife, entrepreneur, and philanthropist from Sierra Leone. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and an Associate degree in billing and medical coding. In 2018, she founded the Jansie Rescue Mission (JRM), a registered vocational institute that aims to provide opportunities and life skills training to the less fortunate in Sierra Leone. JRM has opened two free schools in Freetown, offering vocational programs in various areas. They have sponsored over 1200 graduates and also support underprivileged children with school supplies, clothing, and food. Mrs. Thomas expanded JRM to the United States and plans to host their first fundraiser in 2023. Recently, JRM initiated a feeding program in Freetown and has plans to open four more branches in different regions of Sierra Leone. Mrs. Thomas is dedicated to enriching the lives of young Sierra Leoneans and is a true force to be reckoned with.

Our mission is to help those who are struggling to make ends meet, by providing them with job training and other resources. We believe that all individuals have the potential to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. We strive to create a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for those who come through our doors. From educational classes to job placement assistance, we offer a variety of services to help individuals and families achieve their goals. We also work to provide our clients with the necessary tools to become independent and successful. We are deeply committed to our mission and are proud of the work we do.
